First Week at McDonald’s

As the title suggests, I have just completed my first week at McDonald’s. It felt weird since I haven’t had an actual job in over a year, mainly due to high school and this ‘losing game’ know as the economy. I’ve applied for numerous positions in both Chester and Red Bud, but in the end, Red Bud McDonald’s was the only place to call back. Everyone who works there seems nice, I just hope that it lasts. The only part I didn’t enjoy was having to shave off my chinstrap, but in life, you have to make sacrifices. On my first days of the ‘hands on’ training, I was nervous as hell, but luckily Scott from my Philosophy class was my trainer for the day. What I think is cool is that there’s this other new guy whose from India; his name is Utsuv (pronounced “oots-uv”, I’m fairly certain). First a Nigerian Geography teacher and now an Indian coworker,I have to say that after growing up surrounded by nothing but racist redneck idiots, even a little bit of diversity is just refreshing, but that’s another blog. Overall, I’ve learned a lot from my first week, and even if I had anything negative to say about McDonald’s, I wouldn’t because that wouldn’t be safe for work.

  1. Hehe, my friend Thomas is a manager there. And the other day, him and Alex Martel were talking about the guy from India. Gotta love small towns.

  3. If Alex ever mentions his wife, he is refering to me. And Thomas, eh, you might change your mind once you get to know him better. Haha. He is one of my best friends but he can get pretty obnoxious.

  4. Mcdonalds, Mcdonalds hmm well it's Mcdonalds but I guess it's a job. I heard you don't get many hours there. Someone said you get like eight hours a week. My girlfriends brother is starting there next week sometime. He is pretty awesome though so if you work with I think you'll get along with him. His name is Jason he looks intimidating because he has a lot of tattoos and has his ears pierced but he's cool. Well anyway that's all I got for ya.

  5. I know what you mean. I used to work at Dairy Queen right across the street. I liked everyone i worked with but not the job itself. I mean now im a CNA and I love it, but it's not the best out there ethier. Before Dairy Queen i worked at RBI and i didn't like that ethier. I swept floors, i think i remember you saying that you swept floors or something like that in your paper i read today. But anyway yea you gota take what you can get. A paycheck is a payheck.
